Lei Advisory
Budgeting and scenario planning

A budget that holds up when the year doesn't.

Lei Advisory builds annual and multi-year budgets with scenarios, so leadership and the board can see what happens if a major funder steps back, a large grant lands, or growth comes faster than planned.

A multi-year plan

A three-to-five-year financial plan tied to the organization's programmatic goals, presented to and approved by the board.

Scenarios, not one number

Base, downside, and growth cases, each with cash flow projected month by month.

Reforecasting

Budget-to-actual review through the year, and a reforecast when the year changes course.

The best time to plan for a funder stepping back is before it happens.

Restricted funds are budgeted separately, so program commitments and operating needs don't blur together. Reserve and investment assumptions are built in, and the plan is written so a treasurer can present it with confidence. A finance assessment is a good starting point if the current budget isn't trusted.

From experience

As the senior finance executive of a national nonprofit, Frank built a five-year financial plan that the board approved ahead of the organization's largest gift, with cash flow projections by category and investment recommendations based on both GAAP and cash assumptions.
